Guides, Testimonials, News

I have now the e28 for more than a month and day after day I appreciate it more and more. I use it mostly for multichannel playback (from dsd files sourced from my SACD collection). In my system the e28 DAC replaces an Oppo 95 highly modded by Ric Schultz + an analogue mulch-channel preamp from Orpheus (the total value of these devices is around $10,000).The DAC sit on a Synergistic Research Tranquility base and is directly connected to the amps. The result is glorious : huge rock solid soundstage, detailed and absolutely not fatiguing. This Dac makes wonders on human voices .

Echolocating bats have among the finest ears in all animals. They are capable to resolve ultrasonic signals far beyond 100 kHz. We investigate the bio-acoustics of the bat ear and explore neuronal mechanisms of ultrasonic perception. Critical for our research is high quality ultrasonic sound stimulation with lowest possible distortion

Initial impression: I've just received the exaSound e20 MkII DAC and I've been extensively comparing it against the Benchmark DAC2. The Benchmark is a very fine DAC with solid build quality, but to my ears exaSound performs better in almost every way.

For Immediate Release

exaSound Audio Design announces the immediate availability of the e20 Mk III - the first high-end DAC capable of achieving DSD playback at sampling rate of 12.288 MHz (DSD 256+).  This is another world's first for exaSound. The e20 Mk III predecessor, the e20 Mk II was the only consumer-oriented DAC capable of achieving DSD 256 at 11.2896 MHz. The e20 Mk III goes to the next level by introducing three new DSD modes that cover the 48 kHz family of sampling rates: 3.072 MHz (DSD 64+), 6.144 MHz (DSD 128+), and 12.288 MHz (DSD 256+).

"...What a blast! The exaSound worked flawlessly with JRiver Media Center, delivering exquisite two-and multichannel sound through my weekend system. Stereo at 24/96 or 24/192, multichannel FLAC at 24/96, or, holy moley, 24/352.8 multichannel DXD from 2L—you name it—all were so strikingly pure and vibrant that they were addictive."  Read the Review

In one word :amazing. I’m really surprised of the simplicity the e28 DAC has with just everything you throw at it. DSD 2.8 multichannel and stereo, DSD 5.6 stereo, 384 PCM material, everything is just so perfect. Thank you for that nice piece of equipment: I have tried/owned the Mytek 192, the TEAC UD-501, the Korg DAC-10 and a LINN Akurate Streamer…really nothing sounds like the exaSound…it’s really impressive.
