s82 Mark I Streaming DAC
s82 Mark II Streaming DAC and Roon Server
exaSound s82 DSD512 Streaming D/A converters take the technologies introduced with the Stereophile Recommended A+ s88 DAC to the next level.

s82 Mark I integrates a reference-grade 32-bit digital-to-analog converter, Roon Ready streamer, headphone amplifier and digital preamplifier with high-resolution volume control in a stylish full-size mono-block enclosure.

s82 Mark II adds a quiet, passively-cooled  server module for hosting Roon Core and becomes an all-in-one Roon solution that shines with ergonomic simplicity and sonic excellence.

With refinements like autonomous balanced and unbalanced I/V stages and exaSound’s unique three-way galvanic isolation, s82 will uncover every detail in your high-resolution music sources, allowing you to hear the music just as it was recorded.

s82 features proprietary asynchronous network and USB streaming, Windows ASIO drivers and FPGA engine to achieve 32bit, low-jitter, bit-perfect signal path.

s82 will play natively DSD encoded files and streams up to DSD512, DXD 352.8 kHz, PCM and MQA up to 384 kHz.

The s82 Mark II server module is powered by light-weight in-house developed exaOS operating system, Intel i5 CPU, 16GB of RAM and 2 to 6TB SSD storage.

With state-of-the-art performance, easy operation, remote diagnostics, online updates, upgradable output stages and exaSound’s acclaimed customer support, s82 devices will serve as digital cores of your music system for years to come.
Two Editions of s82 - Which One is Right for You?
The two models of the exaSound s82 Streaming DAC are identical in terms of sound fidelity, appearance and refinements. The defining feature of the Mark II upgrade is the server/streamer module for hosting a Roon Core.

If you don't use Roon or if you already have a Roon server like the exaSound Delta Serve or the Roon Nucleus, the s82 Streaming DAC (s82 Mark I) is the right device for you.
Order s82 Mark I Streaming DAC

If you don't have a Roon Server and you like the convenience to have an all-in-one Roon solution, the s82 Mark II Streaming DAC and Roon Server is your choice.

What's new and upgraded in s82 Mark II:
  • Intel i5 server module for hosting the Roon Core
  • 2 to 6 TB internal SSD storage for music files
  • RAM upgrade from 8Gb to 16GB
  • Two additional USB 3 ports and new USB-C port
Order s82 Mark II Streaming DAC and Roon Server

The s82 Mark II dual external power supply option allows the Server and the DAC modules to run on their own, dedicated power sources that are galvanically isolated from each other. The built-in server and DAC don't share a common ground plate. From electromagnetic point of view they are separate audio components. This separation minimizes noise interference. The dual external power architecture is pioneered by exaSound and to the best of our knowledge is unique on the audiophile equipment market.

The additional power supply option is available on both edition of s82, however with the introduction of the Roon Server Module on the s82 Mark II, it becomes an essential contributor to the sound fidelity.

  • Balanced internal design - yields the lowest analog noise and lowest distortion

Roon offers engaging, enjoyable way to browse your music. Via intelligent automatic cloud service library management, Roon delivers metadata for the user’s library and frees the user from the complexities of music library management.

Both editions of s82 are Roon Ready streamers and Roon Tested DACs. In addition, s82 Mark II is a server hosting a Roon Core. They have been profiled and tested by both Roon Labs and exaSound for maximum compatibility with Roon. Roon identifies exaSound devices and sends them audio optimized for their capabilities. Together, Roon and exaSound deliver the power, flexibility, and performance benefits of digital audio, with the easiest setup and highest reliability available.

exaSound s82 Streaming DACs feature MQA decoder and renderer performing full ‘unfold’ for delivering Hi-Res music data up to 24-bit 384kHz.

MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) is a technology which delivers audio using no more bandwidth than a CD-quality file – so it can be easily streamed or downloaded. MQA encoded content is available from major streaming services and download sites.

Power Supply Options

Both s82 Streaming DAC models support two power supply configurations.

Single Power Supply Configuration
exaSound s82 models are offered with a desktop style 12V switching power supply. s82 DACs have 16 internal linear power conditioning circuits in cascaded configuration. Every subsystem is powered by dedicated power source. The sophisticated internal power conditioning makes s82 DACs very insensitive to the quality of the external power supply.

Dual Power Supply Configuration
To achieve the lowest possible noise level, a second third-party 12V linear power supply can be used for the analogue circuits and IV stages.
