e38 DAC Overview

The e38 Mark II 8-channel DAC is a fifth generation DSD256 DAC. Built around the ES9038PRO monolithic DAC chip from ESS Technologies, the e38 has vanishingly low distortion and noise levels, and astonishingly clean analog-like sound. The e38 Mark II offers a high power, high performance headphone amplifier and ultimate resolution volume control.

The e38 DAC is an A+ Stereophile 2019 Recommended Component in the Digital Processor category. This recognition comes after its predecessor e28 – the world’s first multichannel DSD256 DAC was included in the Stereophile Recommended A+ list for three years in a row.

Power Supply Options

exaSound DACs are powered by external 12V power supply. The e38 Mark II uses 11 internal linear power conditioning stages in cascaded configuration. Every subsystem is powered by dedicated power source. This sophisticated power conditioning makes the e38 very insensitive to the quality of the external power supply.

The e38 Mark II DAC is sold with a desktop style switching power supply included. Customers interested in using a premium quality linear power source have the option to order the e38 Mark II DAC bundled with a Teddy Pardo power supply.
