And a surprise. My favorite room at the show, exaSound, did not have high-efficiency speakers, tube amps, a phonograph, or even a linestage. I'll come right out and say it; this was the best digital sound I've ever heard, and at times a dead ringer for first (not second) generation analog mastertape. "exaSound offered an interesting demo consisting of a comparison between stereo and multichannel music using five Magnepan 1.7 speakers driven by a Bryston 9B-SST-2 amp. I found the surround versions to simply sound more natural and not at all gimmicky which you might expect from multichannel music"

"We’ve just tested our aria music server with exaSound e28 multichannel DAC, I am happy to report that aria nicely plays both multichannel PCM FLAC and native bitstream DSD64 files via the e28 USB input. An ASIO driver from exaSound has to be pre-installed on the aria server. We believe this is another aria’s “first” in the audiophile music server market... "

The exaSound e28 multichannel DSD256 DAC was at the center of the MBL-powered Positive Feedback Online (PFO) room at T.H.E. Show Newport Beach 2014. Dr. David Robinson, Publisher of the Positive Feedback Magazine, used the exaSound e28 DAC to illustrate the sonic differences between DSD64, DSD128 and DSD256 takes from the same master tapes.

"... The proof of all this pudding was in the listening, and it was delicious. Most easily obvious was the clarity of the low frequencies, which was accomplished with no loss of power. In fact, bass impact was enhanced in all channels, including the subwoofer.
